My name is Lucy Farfort, I'm a freelance illustrator and I specialise in illustration for the children's market.
I love drawing & creating stories with my illustrations that people can get lost in. From the time I learnt to pick up a pencil becoming an illustrator has been my dream and I've been lucky enough to work on a variety of commissions.
My work has been featured in the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators 2016 ‘Undiscovered Voices’ competition anthology, and I was awarded the first prize in illustration in Faber Children’s inaugural Fab Prize 2017.
I'm a passionate advocate for diversity in children's books, particularly as a mixed race illustrator of caribbean heritage, who rarely found Picture Book characters to identify with when growing up.
I love river kayaking, going for walks in the woods, writing children's stories and making stuff. When I was younger I once told my mum I wanted to be reincarnated as a bird to which she replied she'd like to be reincarnated as a tree then i could rest in her branches. Maybe thats one of the reasons why I love trees so much and why i've always been desperate for a tree house.
If you'd like to commission me for an illustration or a design or would simply like to say 'hello' I would love to hear from you. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. My rates are very reasonable and i'm always up for a new project or collaboration.
